There are many beaches around the island. Donnant, on the south west side is perfect for surfers and has an enormous expanse of sand at low tide. Other beaches on the south coast of Belle-ile tend to be smaller coves and are protected from the wind. Those on the north side of the island, facing towards Quiberon and Houat are far calmer. There is a sailing school at the Grands Sables. I have included photographs of some of our favourite beaches.
